I get asked occasionally if it would be possible to insert an “Unsubscribe” link in Mailshot emails, as this is the polite thing to do if you think someone may not want to continue receiving your emails,
It would not be possible to do this automatically (both because Apple does not permit a different email to be sent to each person, and because Mailshot runs entirely on your device rather than on a server somewhere.) but I have devised a workaround to place an “Unsubscribe” button on all your group emails…
1) Copy this string:
Click <a href=”mailto:your-email@address.com? subject=Unsubscribe”>here</a> to unsubscribe
2) Paste it into Notes, and replace “your-email@address.com” with your own address, then copy it again.
3) Go to the MailShot settings page (accessed from “Settings” on the Support button) and paste your edited string into the “Text” line (This text is added at the foot of every group email you send)
4) Enable “Add as HTML” on the line below. (This tells Mailshot to use HTML format)
Once done, this will place a link at the bottom of every group email sent from the Mailshot app, saying “Click here to unsubscribe”. When someone clicks on the link, you will be sent an email with the subject header of “Unsubscribe”. On receiving this, you would know to remove the sender’s mail address from your Mailshot group.
