Soluble Apps was founded in 2010, by Peter Johnson, drawing on over 25 years of experience as Coder, Artist, Producer, Musician and Studio Head in the videogames industry. We are based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.
Our top-selling products are the popular "MailShot Pro" group email app, "ShotList" for planning movie shoots, and "FAQ", which cuts down on repetitive emailing.
The new version of MailShot and MailShot Pro addresses something only discovered recently, which is that some providers do not accept any email with an address repeated. Error messages from the providers never really explained the problem, and it was only detective work by a user which revealed it.
This could happen if, for example, a couple use the same email address with different names.
Mailshot already takes steps to prevent you adding an email address again, but there was a way you could add them both at once using the Contact Checklist.
The new update prevents you adding the same address in this way, and scans your groups to fix any cases where this has already happened.
The latest update for our EditPoint app, for marking up changes needed to audio files such as podcasts and radio shows, includes a few exciting additions…
You can now change the playback speed to skip through a file at up to 2x if you’re trying to refresh your memory, or locate something that was said. Tap the Speedometer to the right of the transport controls, and select the desired speed between 1.0 and 2.0. Small speed increases are subtle and don’t degrade the audio quality too much, anything over 1.4x gets quite glitchy, but may be useful to some of you.
The Lock Screen now shows playback controls for your file, and tapping the icon takes you directly to the app. It also now supports pausing and resuming from headphones or bluetooth devices without switching control to other audio apps.
We now also support iOS 13’s Dark Mode, which you can enable from the Control Centre.
I am pleased to announce the launch of EditPoint, a brand new app for reviewing and marking up audio files.
I was amazed to find there seemed to be no app on the store that would let me listen back through a podcast I had been working on, and easily make notes of a glitch I had to fix, or a gap I should make longer or shorter, etc. whilst I was taking the dog for a walk, or travelling somewhere.
Once you have listened through, it is easy to make the changes to the file in an editing package later, as each marker comes with a timecode to mark where it is in the file. That list can be shared by email to another device (or colleagues, if someone else is doing the edit.)
This app will be invaluable for anyone working on Podcasts, Radio shows, audio drama, Ads, or any other audio production.
Editpoint requires a subscription to edit markers, but it is very reasonably priced, and has a 14-day free trial which you can cancel at any time at no charge. When unsubscribed you can still view the markers you placed whilst subscribed.
EditPoint is available on the App Store for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and iPad Pro- running iOS12 and higher.
A new update for our popular video planning app, ShotList, adds the ability to import storyboards and other images directly from the Files app (so Dropbox, iCloud, Google Drive and more) in addition to the Photo library.
(We also put a shortcut to Settings on the Support button)
We often get asked how to select which email account Mailshot will use to send from, and until recently you could only do this by changing the Default account for all of iOS (or by tapping the “From” line of an email.)
With our latest update you can now set a default “From:” address on the Mailshot Settings page, which will be used for any new email sent from the app or its share extension.
This email address should match an account you have set up on the “Accounts & Passwords” page in the Settings app.
NOTE: If there is no matching account, the existing iOS Default will be used. There will be no warning message unless the address is illegal. You can see if the iOS default has been substituted by looking at the “From” line of the email before you send.
TIP: You can still change the sending address for an individual email, by tapping the “Cc/Bcc, From” line before you send.
