MailShot Update 8.5: Attack Of The Clones*

The new version of MailShot and MailShot Pro addresses something only discovered recently, which is that some providers do not accept any email with an address repeated. Error messages from the providers never really explained the problem, and it was only detective work by a user which revealed it.

This could happen if, for example, a couple use the same email address with different names.

Mailshot already takes steps to prevent you adding an email address again, but there was a way you could add them both at once using the Contact Checklist.

The new update prevents you adding the same address in this way, and scans your groups to fix any cases where this has already happened.

Mailshot 5.3 Update Released

We have just released a new update for MailShot, our popular group email app, which adds a few fixes and tweaks:

Warnings when creating overly-large or empty groups
Fix to duplicated groups, following a split of a large group
Fix for a graphical bug on the iPad Pro title screen,

This update also ensures that updated devices continue to save MailShot contacts to the address book. (As they are no longer needed in most cases, a future version of the app will offer to disable their saving, and remove them from your address book. They are already disabled for new users. )

We have also updated our QuickStart video, which you may find helpful. It walks you through current methods to create and use groups, sending photos and documents, forwarding email to groups, and sharing documents from other apps to Mailshot groups.

MailShot 5.1: New sort options

In a previous update we switched to automatically sorting group members by surname, but a few users preferred the old way of sorting members (based on the entire name), so MailShot 5.1 allows you to choose a few options.

To show the field used for sorting (Typically “lastname, firstname”) enable “Show Surname First” on the MailShot page in Settings.

To sort on full name instead, enable “Sort On Full Name” on the MailShot page of the Settings app.

MailShot 5.0: iCloud Sharing Between Devices

We are excited to announce the release of MailShot 5.0, a major update which uses iCloud to share group data, so groups can be edited and used across iPad and iPhone. It will also simplify the restoring of group data when you upgrade or reset your iOS devices.

NEW IN 5.0:

Synchronise groups between iOS devices.
Groups are automatically sorted in alphabetical order.
Group members are now sorted by SURNAME.
Can import members of one MailShot group into another.
Larger checkmark and (i) button targets, making them easier to tap.

TIP: Some of your devices may contain out-of-date copies of your groups: Start by updating the app and running it on the device that contains your preferred versions, then update the rest. (Any differing group versions will have “_2” added to their name. You can then choose to rename, delete or merge any conflicting versions.)

Alternatively- update and run the app on the device with your preferred versions first, then delete and reinstall the app on your other devices. (this will share just the preferred versions of your groups to your devices)

ShotList 8.0 released

A new update has just been released for “ShotList” our popular iOS production strip board app which helps you organise movie and video shoots and track progress throughout the day.

Version 8.0 includes support for:

We have just released a new update for TextShot, our app for group texting and sending preset messages to text groups. This update improves support for larger-screen devices on the manual-entry screen, and adds a few other minor improvements.

Suggestion Box is a unique app for improvisers and storytellers. Now on Apple Watch.

We are pleased to announce the release of version 2.0 of “Suggestion Box“, our app for improvisers, and storytellers. Screens from the app You can also use the app when playing charades and similar games, or to help with fresh ideas when you want to tell your child a story at bedtime, or work with them to create their own story. Just tap any of the colourful buttons to see a suggestion from that category.

The revised app now includes support for iOS 8 and the larger display sizes on iPhone 6 and 6 plus, as well as iPad.

It is also our first to include support for Apple Watch, allowing you to get suggestions from the entire list featured in the main app, directly on your wrist.

MailShot 3.7 Released

Today we released a new version of our popular MailShot Pro and MailShot apps on the App Store.

This update:

Fixes a rare issue, reported by around 20 of our 250,000 users, which identified group names as being a valid email address incorrectly.
Fixes the “Share” button pop-up on iPads (broken by changes Apple introduced in iOS 8.1.)
Adds a preview video for the App Store.

Mailshot 3.5- Bigger and better!

We have just released updates for our popular MailShot Pro and MailShot group email apps on the App Store.

The updates include:

NEW Optimisations for iOS 8, including 64 bit support.
NEW Support for the larger screens on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus.
NEW List or Print a group (see below)
NEW Case-insensitive comparison of email addresses- (i.e. “support@email.com” is now regarded as the same as “Support@email.com”)
NEW Prevent users creating blank groups, with no members
NEW Help message about the checklist feature, if a user adds more than 5 addresses by hand at once.
NEW Help message if user uses an email address as a group name.
FIX A rare bug if you exit the rename screen for a group without changing anything.

Occasionally we get asked for a way to send or print a list of people in a group, so we have added this (as an experimental feature.) Enabling a switch marked “Email Sharing Button” on the MailShot page in Settings, adds a share button to the menu bar of the group members page. Tapping that button creates an email containing the names and addresses of your group. You can then easily send, print, or copy and paste it.

The release was delayed a few weeks while we struggled to identify an issue introduced by iOS 8 that we now know only affects users using certain non-english characters in contact names, on devices set to non-english languages. We worked around the problem, but we see that Apple have also now fixed their bug with iOS 8.1.

TextShot Update

We have just released version 1.2 of TextShot, our popular group texting app, to the App Store.

TextShot is designed to feel very familiar to all users of our MailShot group email app (although messages are sent from within the app itself this time) and it also adds the ability to create short pre-defined messages, to cut down on typing for messages you send repeatedly.

The new update adds the ability to paste strings of numbers, or names and numbers to rapidly create groups that you can send text to.

ShotList 6 Released

We have just released Version 6 of “ShotList“, the production stripboard app that helps filmmakers to break down scripts then track progress throughout their shoot.

This new version is a major graphical update, allowing many more shots per scene, with faster ways to add shots and scenes and duplicate projects, along with many other tweaks and improvements.

Here’s a quick round-up of some of the new goodies…

You can now store up to 26 shots and storyboards per scene (up from 6 in the old version.)

You can now rapidly duplicate an entire project. Tap “Manage” on the screen that lists your project names, and drag the project you wish to duplicate onto the red bar that appears.

The Details page can now show many more shots in a swipe-able thumbnail strip. Swipe left or right to see all the shots (up and down in landscape mode.) Double-tap to toggle completion status on a shot, single-tap a shot to view it.

You can now see shots on the iPhone Details page in landscape mode, too.

You can add a new blank scene from the Details page, by tapping “+” on the menu bar. It will be inserted after the current scene.

The Gallery page now lets you view all the shots for your scenes as a collection.

The controls here have also changed a little, they now are:

Tap a shot, to edit its details or storyboard image.
Double-tap a shot, to set or clear the completion status
Tap and drag a shot, to rearrange the shooting order.
Tap the “+” image to create a new shot
swipe up or down to see other scenes.

The shot page will now offer to create a new shot if you swipe past the last in the current scene

Scene lengths are now shown as pages and eighths throughout- not as irregular fractions of eighths of a page.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The change in number of shots meant that a new file format was required.

Although the new version can read both new and old file formats, old versions of Shotlist cannot read the new format, so be sure to update all of your devices at the same time.

MailShot Celebrates A Milestone With A New Update

To celebrate gaining over a quarter of a million users for our MailShot apps, we are proud to announce a new update to version 3.2 of MailShot Pro and MailShot, bringing enhancements for iOS7 and a new Automatic Sort feature.

To all those of you who have rated and reviewed the app, or spread the word to others about it. Thank you so much, we love you all, and if you find MailShot useful, we would really appreciate it if you could update your rating or review, so they can more easily be seen by people searching on the App Store.

UPDATE: An issue with restoring upgrade status in the new release, and a less-critical issue with sorting, were both fixed by a rapid update, 2 days later. Please ensure you have the latest version- 3.2.4

Here’s what has changed with this update…

iOS 7

The title page, icon and graphics have now been updated for iOS7, bringing a fresh, clean look to the app.

Group Naming

In the previous versions, email sent from the first person in a MailShot group might appear to have been sent from the group in iOS7 Mail.

This is now solved in the update. After updating the app, just tap the “UPDATE” button on each group.

Automatic Sort

We have now added an Automatic Sort feature, which sorts your group whenever you add a contact. This feature is enabled on the “MailShot” page of the “Settings” app.

We added this feature because we were surprised how many users contacted us after we moved the sort button in a previous update.
