ShotList goes large on the App Store

ShotList 7.0 update

Today we are releasing version 7.0 of “ShotList“, our video planning app that recreates a full production strip board on your mobile device to help organise your shoot, and to track progress on the day.

This new update includes support for iOS8 and 8.1, and makes full use of the larger screens on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and a few usability tweaks and enhancements.

We have also created a new App Store preview video for ShotList.

And a longer video, that walks through many of ShotList’s features. This video is also available from the Support button on the title page of the app, and we expect that even experienced users will probably find something in here that they didn’t know about.

We hope you enjoy the new update, If you have any problems or questions about the app, please contact us using the “Support” button on the title page of the app.

roundedShotList works with any iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 7.0 or above. It is available now on the App Store.

MailShot 3.7 Released

MailShot 3.2 header

Today we released a new version of our popular MailShot Pro and MailShot apps on the App Store.

This update:

  • Fixes a rare issue, reported by around 20 of our 250,000 users, which identified  group names as being a valid email address incorrectly.
  • Fixes the “Share” button pop-up on iPads (broken by changes Apple introduced in iOS 8.1.)
  • Adds a preview video for the App Store.

You can view the new video here, too:

As always, if you have any questions or issues you can usually find the answers in our User Guide or on the Support page.

If you enjoy using MailShot, it is always really appreciated if you could write or update a review on the App Store, as that helps others find out about the app. If you need any further assistance, please email us from the “Support” button on the title page of the app, and we will do our best to help.

We have just released updates for our popular MailShot Pro and MailShot group email apps on the App Store.

The updates include:

  • NEW Optimisations for iOS 8, including 64 bit support.
  • NEW Support for the larger screens on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus.
  • NEW List or Print a group (see below)
  • NEW Case-insensitive comparison of email addresses- (i.e. “support@email.com” is now regarded as the same as “Support@email.com”)
  • NEW Prevent users creating blank groups, with no members
  • NEW Help message about the checklist feature, if a user adds more than 5 addresses by hand at once.
  • NEW Help message if user uses an email address as a group name.
  • FIX A rare bug if you exit the rename screen for a group without changing anything.

Occasionally we get asked for a way to send or print a list of people in a group, so we have added this (as an experimental feature.) Enabling a switch marked “Email Sharing Button” on the MailShot page in Settings, adds a share button to the menu bar of the group members page. Tapping that button creates an email containing the names and addresses of your group. You can then easily send, print, or copy and paste it.

The release was delayed a few weeks while we struggled to identify an issue introduced by iOS 8 that we now know only affects users using certain non-english characters in contact names, on devices set to non-english languages. We worked around the problem, but we see that Apple have also now fixed their bug with iOS 8.1.

We hope you enjoy the update. As always, you can find help on the Support page and in the User Guide. I that doesn’t solve your problem, please drop us a line from the Support button on the title page of the app if you have any problems and we will be happy to help.

New iPhone day: How to move to your shiny new device.

iphone6

Millions of people will be getting new devices today, and over the coming week… and some of them will want to know how to transfer their MailShot data across to the new device.

The easiest way to move to a new device is to restore from an iCloud or iTunes backup of your old device. This will move all app data and settings across, and MailShot will have all the groups from your previous device.

If you skipped that option when setting up your new device, you can wipe that new device from the General page of the Settings app, and choose the iCloud backup from your old device when you restore it.

If you can’t use this solution for any reason, Here is the support page article on how to move all groups from one device to another using iTunes.

Or, if you still have the special contacts which MailShot created for you in your address book, you can rebuild groups from them like this:

  1. Create a new MailShot group, with a different name
  2. Tap “+” and add the old MailShot-created contact from your address book.
  3. A list appears of all the members of your group, Select the addresses you wish to import from it using the checkmarks.

You can now name the new group to match your old one, by tapping “Edit” and then selecting the group name you want to change, on the page that lists your groups. Alternatively, use the Contacts app to delete the old group contact.

TextShot Update

We have just released version 1.2 of TextShot, our popular group texting app, to the App Store.

TextShot is designed to feel very familiar to all users of our MailShot group email app (although messages are sent from within the app itself this time) and it also adds the ability to create short pre-defined messages, to cut down on typing for messages you send repeatedly.

The new update adds the ability to paste strings of numbers, or names and numbers to rapidly create groups that you can send text to.

As always, if you have any questions please see our support page, or drop us a line from the Support button on the title page of the app.

TextShot Pro works with iPhone 5, 4s, 4, iPod touch, iPad and iPad mini, and is available now on the App Store.

TextShot 1024rTextShot Lite works with iPhone 5, 4s, 4, iPod touch, iPad and iPad mini, and is a free download that creates up to 2 groups with up to 4 contacts per group.( An in-app purchase removes those restrictions.)

ShotList 6 Released

Shotlist title bannerWe have just released Version 6 of “ShotList“, the production stripboard app that helps filmmakers to break down scripts then track progress throughout their shoot.

This new version is a major graphical update, allowing many more shots per scene, with faster ways to add shots and scenes and duplicate projects, along with many other tweaks and improvements.

Here’s a quick round-up of some of the new goodies…

You can now store up to 26 shots and storyboards per scene (up from 6 in the old version.)

You can now rapidly duplicate an entire project. Tap “Manage” on the screen that lists your project names, and drag the project you wish to duplicate onto the red bar that appears.

90mmThe Details page can now show many more shots in a  swipe-able thumbnail strip. Swipe left or right to see all the shots (up and down in landscape mode.) Double-tap to toggle completion status on a shot, single-tap a shot to view it.

You can now see shots on the iPhone Details page in landscape mode, too.

You can add a new blank scene from the Details page, by tapping “+” on the menu bar. It will be inserted after the current scene.

The Gallery page now lets you view all the shots for your scenes as a collection.

The controls here have also changed a little, they now are:

90mm

  • Tap a shot, to edit its details or storyboard image.
  • Double-tap a shot, to set or clear the completion status
  • Tap and drag a shot, to rearrange the shooting order.
  • Tap the “+” image to create a new shot
  • swipe up or down to see other scenes.

The shot page will now offer to create a new shot if you swipe past the last in the current scene

Scene lengths are now shown as pages and eighths throughout- not as irregular fractions of eighths of a page.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The change in number of shots meant that a new file format was required.

Although the new version can read both new and old file formats, old versions of Shotlist cannot read the new format, so be sure to update all of your devices at the same time.

As always, both complaints and compliments are very welcome. Let us know if you experience any problems, using the Support button on the title page of the app, and we will do our very best to help.

roundedShotList works with iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and iPad mini running iOS6.1 and above. It is available now on the App Store.

MailShot Celebrates A Milestone With A New Update

cropped_en1pro

To celebrate gaining over a quarter of a million users for our MailShot apps, we are proud to announce a new update to version 3.2 of  MailShot Pro and MailShot, bringing enhancements for iOS7 and a new Automatic Sort feature.

To all those of you who have rated and reviewed the app, or spread the word to others about it. Thank you so much, we love you all, and if you find MailShot useful, we would really appreciate it if you could update your rating or review, so they can more easily be seen by people searching on the App Store.

UPDATE: An issue with restoring upgrade status in the new release, and a less-critical issue with sorting, were both fixed by a rapid update, 2 days later. Please ensure you have the latest version- 3.2.4

Here’s what has changed with this update…

iOS 7

The title page, icon and graphics have now been updated for iOS7, bringing a fresh, clean look to the app.

Group Naming

In the previous versions, email sent from the first person in a MailShot group might appear to have been sent from the group in iOS7 Mail.

This is now solved in the update. After updating the app, just tap the “UPDATE” button on each group.

Automatic Sort

We have now added an Automatic Sort feature, which sorts your group whenever you add a contact. This feature is enabled on the “MailShot” page of the “Settings” app.

shotSortOption

We added this feature because we were surprised how many users contacted us after we moved the sort button in a previous update.

Thanks again. As usual you can find help in the User Guide and on our Support Page, should you need any further assistance, please drop us a line from the ‘Support’ button in the app itself, as that will tell us a little about how your device is configured, which will enable us to help you more efficiently.

MailShot 3.1 Goes For Gold!

  • Search now also checks organisation name and first 150 characters of notes (as well as contact name and email address)
  • Create address string without contact names, to fit more contacts into a shorter string. (Enable this option from the Settings app.)
  • Additional diagnostic information in support emails, making it easier for us to help you.
  • MailShot Pro 1024rFix crash when putting keyboard away on iPad search page.
  • Prevent creating a new group named just as an existing one
  • Reintroduce the ‘All’ and ‘None’ buttons (instead of circle and checkmark)
  • Add tutorials about the checkmark system, and search bar
  • “Scanning” message when searching contacts.
  • After several “Update”s, tutorial button stops appearing.
  • And more…

We hope you find this update useful. Let us know if you need any help, or have questions for us, from the ‘Support’ button in the app. You can also find most questions answered in the User Guide or Support Page

As always, we rely on your support to rate us on the App Store every time we update, as your older reviews become harder to find when we update. Thanks a million!

MailShot 3.0 Brings A Fresh New Look.

mailshot 3.0 updateWe are delighted to announce the release of MailShot Pro 3 and MailShot 3, which brings a fresh new lick of paint and some exciting features that our users have asked for to the world-beating Group Email app, now used by over 230,000 people.

As usual, this will be a free update for our existing users.

EN_i5_contactsWe now have a new cleaner, flatter look, designed to fit with iOS7 (although you don’t require iOS7 to run it.)

A fantastic new feature is the ability to rapidly add a list of contacts, by pasting a string of addresses and contacts into the app.

You can read more about how to use this feature here in the User Guide, and you can also find a number of helpful hints and tips on how to extract email addresses as strings from received email, spreadsheets etc.  here on our Support Page.

You can now easily duplicate a group. Tap “Edit” on the page where your groups are listed, then use the icons that appear on the right to drag a group onto the red bar at the bottom of the list to duplicate it.

And there are a couple of other changes that it may be useful for our existing users to know about…

Context sensitive buttons. To simplify things for new users, buttons for selecting and deselecting multiple contacts, and entering edit mode, are now only shown when relevant. Note that the automatic “sort” function IS still available,  just tap the the “Edit” button on the contacts page to access it.

Manually-added contacts are no longer highlighted in red. This had obviously been confusing people, as we received a number of support questions about it. Now a contact will only appear in red if it was originally added from your address book, but is no longer found there.

A new search bar on the contact checklist lets you search on first name or email address, and only shows matching contacts. (we will add a search on company name in the next update, after requests)

The size of each group is displayed more simply on the groups page. It now shows just the size of the group, and will only show two numbers (such as “14 of 16”) when some members of a group are deselected.

There were also a number of other improvements:

• More tutorial information links within the app.
• Improved diagnostic information in the support request email.
• New share options to tell your Twitter and Facebook friends about the app.
• Updated to ARC and Modern Objective C standards.

We hope you enjoy the new features. Please let me know of any issues you spot, and we’ll do our best to help. If you wish to get in touch, please use the “Support” button on the title page of  MailShot. Our Support Page and User Guide are also there, as always, to help.

MailShot Pro 1024r

MailShot Pro works with iPhone 5s thru 3GS, iPod touch and iPad mini, and is available now on the App Store.

MailShot Lite 1024r

MailShot works with iPhone 5s thru 3GS, iPod touch and iPads and is available as a free download that creates up to 3 groups with up to 5 contacts per group. An in-app purchase removes all restrictions.

TextShot 1.1 is Now Available.

New update for TextShot group texting app adds ability to add phone numbers with custom labels from your address book.

Photo 417Version 1.1 of our TextShot group texting app has just been released, allowing you to add phone numbers that were marked with custom labels.

Tap the orange phone button on the menu bar to toggle the display of all phone numbers, not just those labelled as “mobile” or “iPhone”.

  • Groups size now shown in brackets, e.g. “(3)”, unless some are deselected, e.g. “(2 of 3)”.
  • Improved data included in support request emails.
  • “Text Preset” now used instead of “template” throughout.

The User Guide has also been updated with an illustrated step-by-step guide to creating your first groups and text presets, through to sending your first message.

As always, if you find TextShot useful, a rating on the App Store would be much appreciated to help spread the word. (You can do this from the Rate button on the title page.)

Our new app- “TextShot- Group Text Done Right”

textshot headerOver the past two years we have received a lot of requests from our many MailShot users asking us for a companion app to handle text and iMessages. So we are delighted to announce the arrival of TextShot on the App Store this week.

TextShot will feel very familiar to users of our popular MailShot app. Adding contacts to a group is handled in the app in all the same ways, with a very familiar interface.

Unlike MailShot, TextShot sends its messages from within the app, so we also took the opportunity to let you create and send your own preset text messages. Select a group, choose your text, then tap the TextShot logo to create a new message. It saves a lot of typing on that cramped mobile keyboard (and you can easily do it one-handed)

100322_N90_BOW_PF_#1Band_no_pings_FL_PHO-10-0110 001We expect the app to appeal mainly to iPhone users for sending SMS, but you can send iMessages to other iOS users from all iOS devices. TextShot doesn’t handle email.

TextShot is available on the App Store in two versions-

TextGroup Icon1024rTextShot Lite is free to try, but restricts you to two groups of up to four contacts, and two different text presets. It is upgradable with an in-app purchase.

TextGroup Pro1024r

TextShot Pro removes all of those restrictions.

A Support page and User Guide are also available, and will be built up over the following days. As always, if you need any assistance please get in touch through the Support button on the front page of the app.

FAQ 1.4 makes email easier.

bannerFAQ Email Composer“, our brilliant app that helps you rapidly create custom emails, hits the App Store with a new update today with a few tweaks, including easy duplicating of entire topics (and a fix for a small issue in the Markdown-compatible version)

You should give FAQ a try, it’s not just us saying that it’s great- there may only be a few reviews so far on the store, but ALL of them are 5-stars. As any new release bumps them off the front page of the App Store, and you can’t see reviews from other territories, here are a selection for you…

Just TOTALLY AWESOME I searched for months and bought other apps before finding this jewel! If you need signature blocks and “boiler plate” email responses… This is the app you are looking for! This app is the best!!!  UH60Av8or, US ★★★★★

Great App I use this for our non-profit and have different topic areas for things you send out a lot…meeting and event reminders, sales items and event details. Group this with MailShot and its two clicks to send the same message to my entire organization. -KC008, US ★★★★★

A VERY useful app Any time you find yourself sending “boiler plate” responses in your business, you will find this app to be a big time saver. In addition, I am impressed by the author’s quick response to customer support issues. (And by the way, those issues were with my learning to use the app -not the app itself.) This app is well worth the price.Larry Costner, US ★★★★★
